If you decide to visit, expect to see lots of amazing garments, facts you didn’t know about YSL, and to see items you wouldn’t normally see, such as design work with swatches and toiles. Toiles are garments made from calico. Basically prototypes used during the design process, to judge if any adjustments are needed before the garments are made in the final fabric.
Yesterday I (finally) got to visit the Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle. The YSL -Style is Eternal exhibition is the reason I headed down there, but we also had a browse around the museum. Which, by the way, is beautiful!
I wanted to write this post straight away as there’s not long left to visit this exhibition, just a heads up. So if you like what you see, get yourself there before the 8th November!
My photographs don’t do the exhibition justice at all, being so close to these beautifully, hand-crafted garments is a dream for any fashion lover. like myself.
I’d highly recommend the YSL -Style is Eternal exhibition to anyone even remotely interested in fashion and/or textiles. It is beautifully curated and extremely interesting.
