Unless you live close to Edinburgh (or you’ve already planned a trip), then perhaps it’s a little late to visit the Edinburgh Christmas Markets. It’s never too early to be planning for next year, though. I visited this weekend, and although it was absolutely freezing, I’ll definitely be visiting again next year. Here are three reasons why you should visit Edinburgh at Christmas.
1. The pretty Christmas lights. Everyone loves sparkly Crimbo decorations, unless you’re actually The Grinch, of course. Edinburgh is full of them in the festive season. The markets are super pretty and there are beautifully lit Christmas trees on what seems like every corner. There’s also the fame Dome with its giant tree, although be prepared to have a bit of a wait to get in, I didn’t go but I’m sure it’s worth it.
2. The cute Christmas stalls at the market. I could have easily spent A LOT of money at the market stalls in Edinburgh. There were so many lovely Christmas gift ideas, so perhaps next year I’ll visit earlier in December when I haven’t finished my Christmas shopping. There were also loads of lovely Christmas decoration – I kind of wish I’d bought something for the tree to be honest.
3. The Baileys Hot Chocolate. I’m not a huge fan of Baileys – creamy drinks just aren’t my thing. But Oh My Word, have you tried a Baileys Hot Choccie before? You have to have it with cream and marshmallows though, or it’s just not as special. I’m thinking of treating myself to a bottle for over the festive period.
Have you visited Edinburgh at Christmas before? I can’t believe I waited so long to go at this time of year!
