The Mineral House Spa is tucked away in the heart of Newcastle city centre in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. You’d never guess you were a few minutes walk away from a busy train station and bustling town centre.
When planning a staycation in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne I knew I wanted to make use of the Mineral House Spa. Having seen images on social media and read reviews, I couldn’t wait to spend a relaxing morning in the spa.
As guests of the hotel, you get use of the spa facilities. If you’d like to visit but aren’t staying at the hotel there are various packages available. A Mineral Light Ritual which includes 55-minute massage and a choice of three different 25-minute treatments for £125 sounds heavenly to me!
As we weren’t sure which day we’d be visiting the Mineral House Spa, we didn’t actually book any treatments. We very much enjoyed the facilities on offer though. The 10-metre spa pool is just the right size to do a few relaxing laps. Although, if the spa was busy then I think it would feel a little overcrowded. I’m not sure of the limit on how many guessed can make use of the facilities at one time as there are only about six lounge chairs around the pool.
Jacuzzis are generally my favourite part of a spa day, and this was no different. We were lucky that there was only one other couple in the spa on the morning that we visited so we had the jacuzzi to ourselves. It is self-timed for 10 minutes on and then ten minutes off. What more can I say about it? Perfect temperature, just the right size, and super relaxing.
The Mineral House Spa also has a steam room. It was a little hot for me so I was in and out fairly quickly. I prefer a sauna to a steam room as I find it more comfortable, but unfortunately, there isn’t one at this spa.
Although I didn’t have a massage, this is the most relaxing spa I have visited. Mostly due to the size and the atmosphere. I would definitely go back again for a spa afternoon, perhaps booking a treatment or two.
Relaxing. Would do again. One line review: Rob, August 2019
After our relaxing morning at the Mineral House Spa at The Crowne Plaza, Newcastle we headed to The Dispensary for breakfast. A perfect ending to our North East Staycation.
