We’re all trying to be a little more sustainable lately in our own ways. For me, purchasing items such as a classic shirtdress rather than clothes I’d be bored of this time next year. I adore fashion and love freshening up my wardrobe with a few new pieces each season. I am definitely becoming more conscious about the decisions I make when it comes to fashion, although I know that buying new clothes will never be sustainable. We’re all doing our best though, right?
A Classic Shirtdress
On my journey to being a little more sustainable (small steps and all that), I’m trying to choose more classic styles. What could be more classic than a shirtdress? For me, a style that is in a lightweight fabric – preferable cotton – and a super flattering cut is a must. This dress is a midi cut and has a cinched-in waist so I know I’ll be pulling it out of my wardrobe for years to come and it will still look classic and fresh.
The white base with a blue print over the top has that classic bone china feel to it. It’s always been one of my favourite patterns to go for at this time of year as it reminds me of a Greek Island. How beautiful would it look in Santorini though?
Freshen It Up Each Season
In this outfit, I have styled the classic shirtdress super simply with my current favourite accessories – my white 90’s style sandals and little white bag. There are so many other ways this dress could be worn to really freshen it up, though. A pair of red sandals would look stunning against the blue and white print on this dress, or even yellow sandals.
Although this dress looks very summery, I’m planning on wearing it throughout the Autumn months too. Tights, ankle boots, and a chunky white cardigan like this would be perfect.
Do you have any classic items in your wardrobe that you pull out every season? I’ll be looking after this dress so that I have it for a very long time!
