The Puff Sleeve trend has really made a comeback over the last few months. Whether that be on dresses, sweaters or tops, they’re everywhere right now. I love the trend, but when you have a small frame like mine they can be difficult to style without looking like an 80’s throwback, or like you’re off to a fancy dress party.
Puff Sleeves & Midi Skirts
The puff sleeve top I chose lends itself to more of a ‘going out for cocktails’ type outfit. I decided to style mine with my favourite animal print midi skirt. I find that it works so well with lots of different outfits, and this is no different. The slim silhouette of the skirt balances the volume of the puff sleeves. If you wore a more fitted skirt or skinny trousers with this top it may end looking a bit top-heavy – especially if you have a fuller bust like me. The way the skirt skims the hips and then kicks out a little at the hem is perfect.
Puff Sleeves & Straight Leg Jeans
For more of a casual, cool-girl look you could pair your puff sleeve top with some straight leg jeans. A pair of black straight leg jeans with the puff sleeve top would give more a grunge look if paired with a pair of chunky flat boots. Alternatively, worn with a pair of light blue jeans and black pointed heels, you have the perfect Friday night outfit. You know the kind I mean. When you’re not going ‘out out’ but you still want to make an effort. A slick of red lipstick and a pair of gold hoops would finish the look off perfectly.
Do you like the puff sleeve trend? How would you style it? I’ve seen a gorgeous black dress with polka dot puff sleeves that would be absolutely perfect for the festive party season.
If you’re interested in other ways to style your midi skirt this season I already have a blog post all about it.
