Green Cord Pinafore Dress

Last week I wrote about my new in-betweeny jacket for autumn, and I thought I’d share the outfit I wore underneath that jacket, too. I feel like this colour combination just screams autumn, all that’s missing is some autumn leaves!

Green Cord Pinafore Dress, Striped Top and Boots

The starting point for this outfit was the amazing Topshop pinafore dress. It’s forest green and in a gorgeous velvety cord fabric. I don’t think I could find anything more autumnal if I tried, could I? It is so soft to the touch and is such a lovely fit. I actually went down a size as it fitted me nicer than my regular size did.

I originally wanted to pair a plain mustard roll neck with this pinafore dress as I knew it would look great with the forest green, but when I saw this striped high neck jumper in Primark I thought it looked even better. The stripes consist of dark green, mustard, burgundy, pale blue, lilac and black. Basically Autumn in a jumper. I just know I’m going to be wearing this so much over the next few months.

My new Primark jacket looks perfect with this outfit, too. Be prepared to see this exact look on Instagram A LOT as I’m in love. I’ll have to come up with different variations as it’ll get a little boring, won’t it?!
As it’s not too chilly just yet, I decided to wear slightly sheer tights rather than totally opaque ones, I think they are much more flattering on my legs. A pair of black ankle boots is an absolute must. These are a little different as they have a tortoiseshell heel – perfect with Autumn shades.

Autumn Style Refresh

It’s that time of year when I’m giving the outfits in my wardrobe an Autumn style refresh. The new season trends filling the high street have me craving a fresh new wardrobe. I don’t know about you, but I need items of clothing that I can wear all year round. A small change in the way an outfit is styled can make a huge difference in how an outfit looks. You may recognise this particular outfit. I featured it last year here where I simply styled it with black ankle boots. That was last Autumn. I’ve also worn it in Springtime, too.

An Unexpected Peek Of Mustard

This outfit was a total accident. I’d planned on wearing the shirt and skirt together, but the mustard roll neck? That was totally unplanned. Truth is, when I picked up my ASOS parcel and threw on the outfit to check if it looked how I imaged it would, I was too lazy to take off the mustard top first…

So, a very happy accident. Mustard and burgundy are not two colours I’d put together, really. Yes, they look great together in this Autumn outfit, but that’s within a striped pattern. I love how it looks peeking out from under this gorgeous snake-print shirt from New Look. 
The burgundy faux leather skirt is my favourite piece from this outfit, though. I’ve already worn it three times and I haven’t even had it for a week yet! It’s from Bershka, which has quickly become one of my favourite brands. It is a Spanish brand, but thankfully it is available on ASOS. While I was in Barcelona over the summer I bought far too many new pieces of clothing from there. they’ll definitely be making an appearance on here soon as I just love them!
Anyway, back to the skirt. I always see faux leather A-line skirts that I love but because of my body shape, they never seem to fit right. I normally have to go up a size for my hips but then they are too loose around my waist and the front slips around to the side while I’m walking. Not a good look at all. This one, however, is perfect. It is just cut perfectly for my shape. It is also such a beautiful Autumn colour, too. They have it in black too, which I definitely think I need. Black would be a basic, right? Perfect with ankle boots and a cosy jumper, or dressed up with heels and a sparkly top for a Christmas party. 
Hopefully, I’ll come up with more accidental outfits! Have you ever come up with unintentional outfit combinations that just work really well?

The In-Betweeny Jacket

We’re definitely having that in-betweeny weather right now. Cold in the morning, windy, but sometimes really quite warm by lunchtime. I didn’t have a jacket for this awkward weather, until now. Step forward the in-betweeny jacket.

Last week at work I was freezing. I wasn’t even outside, but the draft was so cold that I knew I needed to start taking in a warm jacket the following week. Not a big, thick coat as it’s not quite cold enough for that, but my denim jacket just wasn’t doing the job.  So I headed off to Primark in the hope that I could find something that would fit the bill and came out with an absolute bargain. 
There were so many coats and jackets to choose from in Primark, but I knew I wanted something that was a little more casual. I tried on a rust coloured cord jacket in a similar but the fit just wasn’t right on me, there was just too much excess fabric. 
This puffer jacket, or windbreaker as it was labeled, is not something I’d usually go for at all but for some reason I really, really like it. What I like most about this jacket is that it is not too ‘puffy’. Some jackets that are very padded make me feel like the Michelin Man. Not a good look. This one has the perfect amount to keep you warm but not look ridiculous. I mean, it’s not going to keep you very warm on very cold days, but it’s perfect for Autumn and Spring.

The colour is absolutely perfect, too. It is hard to describe, actually. Kind of a deep rose pink slash rust. Basically, it will go with all of the autumnal tones. Winning. It came in a lot of other colours, too, if this ain’t your bag. I think I saw cobalt blue and a bright red amongst many others. 
I wore it over a forest green cord pinafore dress from Topshop and a stripy high neck jumper, but it is one of those jackets that I’m going to be throwing over an and every outfit, to be honest.
